Gender Diversity Module

“This module helps employees understand different perspectives of their colleagues and encourages ways to help create an environment in which everyone feels safe to bring their entire selves to work.

Encouraging diversity in your organisation brings happier, more productive staff and better ideas. The Public Service Commission recommends Government agencies welcome gender diversity and include pronouns in email signatures. As your organisation builds its welcome to gender diverse people, don’t leave any staff behind on your journey.

A growing mainstream understand gender diversity issues but there’s also many who aren’t interested. This module concisely covers the core ideas and will help even the ‘least-woke’ among us engage with the ideas and know what’s expected.

By the end of the module, your people will be able to:

  1. Correctly use key gender terms
  2. Explain gender concepts
  3. Identify ways to support gender diverse people at work
  4. Respond to instances of poor inclusiveness tactfully
  5. Find further resources and guidance.
“I love the module and think that everyone (Aotearoa and beyond) could benefit from working through it!”

Unique module features

Practical
actions

Doing nothing changes nothing. To encourage learners to put their commitment to diversity into action, the module guides them to build their own list of positive actions.

South Pacific
lens

Many pacific cultures embrace ideas beyond the gender binary. The module references this to bring it close to home and show it’s nothing new.

Personal
stories

Seeing ‘ideas as people’ is critical to changing discriminatory ideas on gender, so the module makes use of various interviews with trans people from New Zealand major media outlets.

Challenging
quiz

A challenging five question quiz focussing on desired behaviours provides assurance that your learners understand what they need to do to support colleagues and welcome gender diverse people.

Sample page: Action-oriented eLearning. Selections here are served back to the learner to take action at the end of the module.
